JH posted a thread about how Wikipedia clearly shows how goofy the doctrine of JW's has been in changing over the years. So it makes me wonder could Wikipedia be the driving force in the no "independent" study? I know that my whole family uses Wikipedia often and use it as a respected source when researching things. So I wonder if there is a connection there with JW's accidently seeing things on Wikipedia and the society not being able to change and refute it. Because if you post a "lie" it should be taken down. Thoughts?

my research into antient hebrews mingling thier blood during covenant......
by grewupJWnoselfesteem78-95 inin this book, the miriclle of the scarlet thread, richard booker outlines the steps ancient hebrews typically followed in making a covenant: ......they exchanged robes.......they exchanged belts.....cut the convenant.......raised the right hand..........mingled their blood.......exchanged names.....made a scar.....stated the convenant terms.........ate the memorial meal......and planted a tree.
the covenant partners raised their right arms, cut their palms and intermingled their blood, while swearing allegiance to each other.
blood represents life; the intermingling represent two lives becoming one.

Thanks for the research. This would probably do good under the "bible research" topic on this board. I think I am going to ask my Mom about this, though I can guess the stock response. I am sure it will go something like this, "that was a special covenant Jehovah had with his people, that was done away with when Jesus came". Or something along those lines.

Assembly Resolutions
by DT ineven when i was a believing jw, i began to really dislike those fake assembly resolutions.
my biggest complaint was that we weren't given any time to think about them before we were called on to agree.
i thought they were pretty meaningless and stopped responding to them.

Context and Consistency
by DT insince i was born into the wts, i suffered from a lot a brainwashing before i could even read.
i had a lot of preconceived ideas before i started to read the bible.
i assumed that it was consistent, so when i came across apparent contradictions, i assumed there were reasonable explanations and even tried to make them up.

I always thought that was what made Christianity a bit more interesting. That it is more of a hodgepodge of ideas thrown together.

the ancient prophets of old married mingling thier blood with their wives..
by grewupJWnoselfesteem78-95 induring my studies i became aware of the ancient custom hebrew marriage ........12 steps in all...... during the end of the marrige ceremony the husband and wife would cut thier hands and join them as a signification of becoming one in the eyes of jehovah...... thus mingling their blood with each others................................ i have 3 questions....... are jehovah winesses aware of this?.
would jehovah's witnesses regard this as blood transfusion?.
what would jehovah think about many of the ancient hebrew prophets of old becoming married in this way?.

Good question! I would imagine a JW would have a hard time getting around this. Where are the scriptural references for this? I can email my Mom and get a stock response to the question.

Circuit Assembly This Weekend
by united states of nothing inwell, i went this weekend and there were a few key points that i thought were pretty interesting.
one thing is that we are not to use the word 'society' any longer.
i don't know if anybody else has heard of this before but i wondered what the reason was behind it.
